The artist I studied was Roy Lichtenstein. First, I am going to give you a little bit of background on him. On October 27, 1923, Roy Fox Lichtenstein was born in Manhattan. His father was Milton Lichtenstein, and his mother was Beatrice Lichtenstein. On December 17, 1927, Roy’s sister Renee was born. In 1937, Roy enrolled in Saturday morning watercolor classes at Parsons School of Design. In 1940, he attended Reginald Marsh’s painting class. In 1944, Roy passed his physical exam for the air corps. In late 1945, he went back to the U.S to see his father who was very ill. On January 11, 1946, Roy’s father died. In 1949, Roy married Isabel Wilson. In 1954, Roy and his family moved to Cleveland. Later, in 1967, he divorced Isabel. On September 29, 1997, Roy Lichtenstein died at New York University Medical Center in complications due to pneumonia. Roy was a great artist and I enjoyed his work immensely. There were some of his works that I like a lot such as the print Grrrrrr! (1965). However, there were some pieces of his that I did not find appealing to the eyes such as Bathroom (1961). I didn’t find the pieces like Bathroom (1961) to be fun to look at, but I still thought that they were very well done. His most famous piece, I think, is Look Mickey (1961). Over all, I love this artist and his work!
